How To Bathe A Baby Properly?

The baby’s first bathing is always moments of joy and tenchment. What should be taken into account at the first water procedures of the baby and how to care after was asked by our columnists, the founders of the brand ecosystem of care products for the whole family.

Bathing preparation checklist

We will need: a special bath, a thermometer, a soft sponge, a bathing gel, a terry towel with a hood. And, of course, love and care for the child.

Bath. Now there is a huge selection of baths – with different modern devices, a special shape.

However, it is during this period that children grow up quite quickly. And in a special design, a child may become cramped too soon.

Therefore, we recommend choosing a regular bath with a slide so that the baby can lean on it. It is also important to check that the floor of the bath is not slippery.

Before bathing, wash it with soda – it’s better to avoid detergents. Small particles can remain and subsequently get on the child’s sensitive skin.

Water. We’re gaining water. You don’t need to boil it. It is enough for it to correspond to a temperature of 37 – 37.5 degrees. You can check with a thermometer.

If it is not at hand, use the traditional method of measuring the temperature with your elbow. The skin is very delicate in this area. If you don’t have unpleasant sensations, burning sensations, then the child will be comfortable.

Fill the bath by about 10-15 cm, no more need.

Simple rules during swimming

At the first bath, it is important to do everything right so that in the future the baby perceives bath procedures as something pleasant and interesting and does not be capricious every time it’s time it’s time to wash.

Carefully and gradually immerse the child in the water, constantly holding. Be attentive to the reaction of the newborn in order to immediately orient yourself in case of anything.

We pass the sponge all over the body – the movements should be soft and wiping.

Make sure that you do not rube the skin, otherwise you may accidentally scratch it or provoke irritation.

Pay special attention to all the folds, because it is there that the skin usually gets powdered and dryness and discomfort can occur.

If you have a girl, the perineum should be from front to back, from the pubis to the anus.

When washing your face, it’s better to do without a sponge, enough hands. While swimming, pay attention to the corners of your eyes.

Since newborns do not have time to get too dirty like adult children, just water can be enough in the evening daily bathing.

Child care after water procedures

When you’re done swimming, wrap your child in a towel – ideally terry, with a hood. It will help to eliminate accidental drafts and possible colds.

How often should I bathe a baby?

As we have already said, every evening you can bathe the baby in a bath with water, and once or twice a week with a soft gel.

Every time you change the diaper, the genitals should be washed. It is not necessary to completely bathe the baby.

After that, you can use the protection diaper cream. It forms a semi-permeable film and thus protects the delicate skin from irritation and diaper rash.

Is it worth bathing at the same time?

Ideally, yes. For example, so that the baby does not fall asleep before swimming, and you do not have to wake him up. Or not to worry that he will fall asleep while swimming.

The basic recommendation is to bathe the baby before evening feeding before going to bed, until he is too hungry and tired.

But everything is individual, and we will advise you first of all to monitor the child’s condition.

You shouldn’t be afraid of the first bath. Despite the abundance of recommendations, first of all these are the most valuable moments alone with the child, from which you will get incredible pleasure!
