To be honest, Alia is a bit of a legend in Dubai. First, because she’s a co-creator of several communities for pregnant women and young mothers. Second, she’s a highly skilled doula, perinatal psychologist, and breastfeeding consultant.
We decided to interview Alia to learn more about her and share her story with the world.

Alia, please tell us about your professional journey. How did you become a doula, and why?
I came to this profession through my own positive experience of childbirth with support. My first childbirth was long and challenging, but I only have positive memories of it. This was partly because I had continuous support from my husband, who was well-prepared for partner-assisted childbirth. At the time, I didn’t even know doulas existed, but I understood how important it is not to be alone during childbirth. It’s invaluable to have someone supportive and knowledgeable by your side.
After that, I trained to become a doula, gained practical experience in maternity hospitals, and took numerous additional courses and read many books.
How and why did you move to Dubai?
My family relocated to Dubai in 2017, like many expats, because my husband received a job offer.
How did your professional journey develop in Dubai? Where did you start?
I began by supporting women during childbirth, providing informational preparation during pregnancy, organizing meetings with parents and specialists, and educating future mothers about various childbirth options, breastfeeding, and postpartum recovery. Women started asking questions and exploring information. Many doctors, who were initially cautious about this type of support, eventually understood and appreciated the importance of doula assistance.

What services do you currently offer in Dubai?
My primary and favorite role as a doula is to support women during childbirth. I also regularly conduct prenatal preparation sessions for women, lead my signature course, Mom’s School, and prepare couples for childbirth. As a breastfeeding consultant, I help mothers establish breastfeeding after delivery. I also conduct Postnatal Wrapping Ceremonies and provide consultations as a perinatal psychologist.
Do you have any current projects besides your professional activities?
My communities, Pregnancy in the UAE and Young Mothers in the UAE, are my social projects. I love them dearly and regularly organize celebrations, educational events, and workshops for the women involved. These communities are very close-knit, with members always helping and supporting one another. Many even form family friendships after their children are born.

I’m also continuing my education, currently pursuing an advanced qualification in psychology at Lomonosov Moscow State University.
Additionally, I travel a lot with my children across the Emirates. I want to share my experiences with other parents, so I’ve started a Telegram channel about traveling and leisure with children in the UAE.
On top of that, I’ve decided to focus on getting back in shape this year and regaining my pre-pregnancy abs. With my busy lifestyle, healthy eating and regular workouts are a challenge, but I’m determined. Let’s see how it goes—I’ll share the results in a few months.

Is there anything else you’d like to add?
I’d like to invite expectant mothers to join my events. All my activities are easy to find on social media under the name @to_be_with_mom. I’m always open to communication and happy to make new connections!
What are your future plans, in Dubai or elsewhere?
My main plan for the next few years is to spend quality time with my children—to raise them, support them, enjoy their childhood, and make the most of our time together. After all, they grow up so fast!
